Ladybug Pattern

This week, Cat Coquillette gave her artist community the prompt “Ladybug” for her weekly #CreateWithCatCoq challenge. Since I’ve seen so many ladybugs lately, I had to join in.

Just last week, I came across some late-blooming chamomile at work and spotted this beneficial little beetle going after a cluster of aphids. I took a few photos and used them as inspiration for this pattern, combining the ladybugs with chamomile, leaves, and little yellow flowers.

I love when a prompt connects so easily with something I’ve recently seen in nature. This one came together quickly, and I’m already thinking about a few coordinating patterns! Meanwhile, here are a few mockups to show this pattern coming to life!
