The Wonderful World of Flamingos

I’m usually drawn to the birds I see closer to home—the songbirds, shorebirds and waterfowl I encounter while birding around New England. Flamingos weren’t necessarily on my artistic radar.

But as I started creating this calendar, I found myself having so much fun with them. Even though flamingos are tropical birds, I loved bringing them into the New England seasons—flamingos among spring flowers, enjoying summer, surrounded by fall leaves and even appearing in snowy winter scenes.

The finished calendar is bright, colorful and a little unexpected. I think it would be especially fun for anyone who loves flamingos—or simply wants something cheerful hanging on the wall throughout the year.

I never expected to become quite so captivated by flamingos, but here we are. And honestly? I completely understand why they have such devoted fans.
