“Let’s Go Birding”: a love letter to quiet mornings, migration magic, and making art
I love getting outside first thing in them morning to go birding. Whenever I can, I’m on a morning walk with my binoculars and my camera. I’ve been photographing and watching birds for years, long before I started drawing them. Those regular walks (and the photos I bring home) are exactly what inspired “Let’s Go Birding.”
Early mornings, evenings, and days off - especially when it’s dark or the weather’s lousy - you’ll often find me at my desk or on my couch making art. I seem to always end up drawn to bird or nature-inspired pieces, often using my own photos as reference. It’s a wonderful way to stay connected to the outdoors when I can’t be outside!
“Let’s Go Birding” centers on bird quotes that inspire patience and wonder, accented with hand-illustrated birds and botanicals along with classic birding accessories - binoculars, scopes, field guides, and cameras. And yes, I may have designed this artwork and collection to appeal to a demographic I know very well (Hi, it’s me. I’m the demographic).
